A few words about us
The South African Qualifications & Certification Council for Non-destructive Testing (SAQCC NDT) is a professional body that was established through a mandate from the Department of Employment and labour (DEL) in 2021 to regulate NDT in South Africa.
We carry the following:

To be the leading authority in Non-Destructive Testing, advancing excellence, safety, and innovation across industries through professional registration, education, and collaboration.
• Mission
To promote the integrity and advancement of the NDT profession by developing skilled practitioners, setting industry standards, facilitating research and innovation, and ensuring the safe and effective application of testing technologies in all sectors.

Frequently Asked Questions
SAQCC NDT will endeavour to finalise the processing of applications within a month, however this may take longer depending on the completeness of the application and the number of applications being processed simultaneously.
Applicants will be accommodated via our Recognition of Prior Leaning (RPL) application process. However you are still encouraged to embark on further studies to enhance your development.
A non-refundable fee of R250 must accompany your application.
NDT certification confirms that an individual has demonstrated competence in a specific NDT method, such as UT, MT, PT, RT, or ET, according to a recognized certification scheme such as ISO 9712.
Professional registration through SAQCC NDT goes beyond technical certification by recognizing an individual’s overall professional competence, qualifications, experience, ethical conduct, and commitment to continuing professional development.
In simple terms:
- Certification confirms technical competence in a particular NDT method.
- Professional Registration recognizes the practitioner’s professional standing within the NDT profession.
Both are important and complementary components of professional practice.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is the ongoing process of maintaining and enhancing professional knowledge, skills, and competence throughout an NDT practitioner’s career.
Registered professionals are expected to participate in activities such as:
- Technical training courses
- Conferences and seminars
- Industry workshops
- Professional committee participation
- Technical publications and presentations
- Mentoring and knowledge-sharing activities
Maintaining CPD records demonstrates continued professional competence and supports renewal of professional registration in accordance with SAQCC NDT requirements.
